The arrival on Canadian soil
Here we are. Flashback at the start, since yesterday, all went faster. the house was emptied somehow, household and small crafts remaining left to Colette, Jean-Paul and Denis, thank you. Many times this day, we are well pleased. The day ended in Aude and Franck with Sabine and Didier and all children. Last evening shared with friends, we come very late to loop and load the bags into the truck yellow. We wake up the children at 3:30 and direction Grenoble station with Jean-Paul picked us up and Yvon who put his alarm clock to accompany us.
The bag loading (6 and 8 huge bags bicycle big bags "Taty") in the train is fast, given the number of arms present! Jean-Paul stays with us until Roissy to accompany us and we lend a hand. Arrived at Paris, we'll more than an hour to lug all our equipment from the terminal station and the terminal 1. Then many subsequent return to store luggage and bikes were ok the time before us. The appointment Skype worked with Fred just before boarding, we had great time to see the pictures on your blog!
3:30 flight to Reykjavik during which we have been shaken! 4:20 and quieter flight to Halifax. We did not see much ground, we were on top of a thick layer of cloud at an altitude of 11000m!
Once the visas stamped and recovered our equipment, we find a secluded corner in the airport back to the bike and try to rest. The children sleep on mats, and we find coffee and free wifi for the night ... while going up the bikes.
Dartmouth
We are ready from the sunrise, but not fresh at all! Normally the campsite is located about ten kilometers. except that it is closed and km 60 km we are doing before reaching a campsite to finally sleep. For the moment we have not dared not knock on doors in private homes to ask for a patch of garden to plant the tents
Now that is a campground, we do not let go the next day.
We are located next to monsters camper, everything is done for them there is nothing even to wash the dishes, it is certain we do not play in the same league!
Peggy's Cove
A day of rest and we look forward to the road! Before heading north of the peninsula, we absolutely want to do a tour to Peggy's Cove "The Most beautifull village in Canada" is written on the card. But we are still very tired, and we are struggling to reach the famous village. Besides the weather covers, and after almost 40 km, exhausted and we loose we will see the first still living outside mowing his lawn. Rob and Veronica are hosting us on their lawns freshly mowed, we propose in the bathroom, put a French TV program for children, let us access to the computer to check our mails (really happy to see all your mail) and After some debating we do the picture. I forgot, Veronica also gives us a jar of peanut butter made in the collection, Rob who is a big fan.
In the morning, starting work, Rob tells us that Canadians are very friendly and we have no problem asking for hospitality.
Here, it was enough to ask! Thank you to Rob and Veronica for your home.
And we are off again to Peggy's Cove that we reach with relative ease. The landscapes are beautiful oceanfront, a mix of Britain and the Alps.
We had lunch of cookies, made in the souvenir shop. Must say that since our arrival was really struggling to find food stores like ours. Even a thorough search, the fruits and vegetables are scarce, and we do not find the small shops on every street corner like home. and when we find one that is coca, crisps, bread, hot dogs, cheese square ... Finally, everything but enough for a meal; Here we regret our baskets AMAP!
After sightseeing of the village and its lighthouse and its stones dating from the Ice Age , we start looking for a campsite that we found not too far, not too late, with free wifi, mosquitoes galore, a few rain (Glad to have spiked with the tarp *) showers and a beautiful sunset ocean.
* Tarp: material for MUL, see description of the material when it is online
Back to Halifax
End of our warm-up loop and back to Halifax by very good weather but with a terrible wind from the front! A bicycle, I do not know why, but we always wind coming straight.
On the way we meet our first supermarket, with supplies of vegetables and fruits and take a gargantuan breakfast in the parking lot (in any case everything does not fall within the bags!). The nice thing here, is that all products are labeled in English and French, so you do not want three hours what it could be. We feel that Quebec is not far away.
We pass the Old Bridge and headed toward the eastern part of the city, with a wind to throw cyclists. In a good 100aine meters high, the wind projected against the railings and at the cost of enormous efforts that we reach the other side of the harbor. It is already 19h and having nothing to sleep the way we ask a motel with a young cyclist. At first surprised by our convoy full of kids and not having the slightest idea of where a motel, he takes us with him in a small suburban house typical corner wood siding. Helen Kelly and offer us their garden, their bathroom, their computers and their cook. He was right Rob, about the reception of Canadians! We discuss late Helen shows us a site of a global network of bicycle-friendly (warmshower.com, a hot shower in French) on which we subscribe, it can serve us. Kelly gives us a much more detailed map of the region than we have.
Another beautiful sunset not provided by our tour operator! Thank you to Helen and Kelly, and we are waiting for your new baby's arrival.
For the moment we have a lot of luck in climate, in any case not of showers during the day ... we are sharpening our tan cyclist qu'ça lasts long.
Stay tuned for more News from Canada
Enjoy
