Livingston is charming, it's rhythmic, it's colorful and there's hot, but swimming is not simple. We broke camp faster than expected towards Honduras.

First the "boat" City of Puerto Barrios morning then a colectivo to the border. Transition without a problem, just fill out forms and pay. Less than a kilometer away, a chicken bus waiting for us. Omoa, a small town on the sea seems perfect to stop by tonight, let's go. Except that it's so nice that the prices of accommodation are beyond our reach. After two hours of searching under a terrible sun we head into the first chicken in the direction of the city area, Puerto Cortes port city as its name suggests, and ugly ... (I know it has nothing to do! ). We spend the night in the first hotel recommended by the LP, with cockroaches, yuck.

From that first trip to Honduras, in this popular bus that fills up little by little, we feel a real difference with the previous countries, at least on the Caribbean coast. At the human level, the Mayan descendants are very typical in the majority. People have more of a southern European appearance of white skin and some clear hairs. Outside, big cars and lots of well-kept houses, fences and gardens mowed (it was long!). This is just a first impression, but the country looks richer and certainly more Americanized.

We find no interest in us dwell in this city, we soon arrived on the tiny island of Utila. Within hours, we reached the town of La Ceiba, always local buses, more or less well maintained. This time, the bus looks really end of life. Periodically the engine shows signs of weakness, the driver stops on the lower side to restart. Twice he stopped to repair even with old inner tubes, D system and it works. In the bus, although there are tourists who look at each other quizzically and slightly uneasy accommodation, they do not seem to pay attention, they sleep, eat, speak or phone. We arrived later than scheduled, but we come ... it does things to tell!

La Ceiba. This city there is not really fair, either. It does not want to stay and that's good because we wanted to arrive as quickly as possible on the coveted island. We only stayed two nights nights in a small backpackers hotel not bad.

On the way from the ferry terminal, the taxi driver was delighted to learn that we are French, because he is a football fan like many of his countrymen. Besides, the day before, a first division match animated Honduran town.
